Packaging Systems

What is a packaging system?

In material handling and production, packaging systems refer to the process of enclosing or protecting products for distribution, storage, sale, and use. These systems can use any combination of filling, dumping, loading, unloading, bagging, and/or containing. Packaging systems can be found in most powder and bulk solids industries including food & beverage, mineral, textile, and plastics & rubber.

What are a few examples of a packaging system?

Due to their highly customizable nature, there are many examples of packing systems and equipment such as:

  • Bulk Bag Filler
  • Drum Fillers
  • Bag Fillers

What is a vertical auger filler? What are common applications for auger fillers?

Auger fillers are used in powder and bulk solids material handling to convey and dispense the material using an auger screw – a screw-shaped device that transports materials forward by rotating. Auger fillers can be used to process hard-flowing, sticky, and/or materials that easily acquire dust.

Auger fillers can be found in most industries, especially the food and beverage industry. Coffee, spices, baking mixes, flour, sugar, and drink mixes have all been contained and dispersed by auger fillers.

The advantages of packaging systems

In most industries, success depends on adhering to strict production requirements. Packing systems ensure extreme accuracy in distribution, compliance with rules and regulations, and batch-to-batch quality control. Advantages of packing systems include:

  • Improves consistent and accurate packaging
  • Reduces cleaning downtime
  • Safeguards operator’s health and safety
  • Low to zero energy consumption
